Understanding India's Banks and Non-Banking Financial Companies

Loan products are provided by different types of financial institutions. Public-sector banks, private-sector banks and RBI-regulated non-banking financial companies may offer credit under their respective authorisations, product policies and eligibility rules. Customers should always verify the legal identity of the institution making the offer.

Important directory disclaimer: This is an educational overview of lending institutions in India. Inclusion in this directory does not indicate that Loan Credit Bazaar is approved, registered, appointed, endorsed or authorised by the named institution. The availability of products and any working relationship must be confirmed separately.

Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs)

An NBFC is not a bank. Different NBFC categories carry different permissions and business models. The appropriate way to verify current NBFC registrations is to consult the Reserve Bank of India's official directory rather than assuming that a familiar commercial brand is currently authorised for every financing activity.
